the dark on the floor pulls the attention up to the light furniture, the lighting and everything else. For cleanup a dark wood floor would be easier and look nice too :)
How beautiful. Based on what I see here and how my room is "decorated" I don't feel qualified to answer your question. I have no doubt that you'll make a good decision. I love it!!
It looks beautiful!! You have created a great "hang out" space for yourself. I think I would pull the carpet, and go with a laminate or tile. Something that could handle the chairs being rolled around on it.
Looks great - I personally HATE carpet though! I ripped all my carpet out and replaced it with wood floors (even all bedrooms) and it is a lot less maintenance...but you have to have your Swiffer!
The colors in your room are beautiful. As for a suggestion of the floor I would if I had a choice would be tile. I have been told that hardwood floors with a roller chair will leave marks and wear lines where the chair rolls.
Your room is gorgeous!!!! I love the wall art, did you cut with the cricut? I'm trying to decide if I want to add a vinyl message or image on the wall.
I would say keep the carpet because of when sitting down scrapping you can have some type of cushion under your feet. or if you do tiles or hardwood you would have to get something soft underneath your feet for comfort.
Keep the carpeting! It anchors the room and coordinates so well with what you have. BUT.....go get estimates, figure out how much it would have cost to re-do it......and 'use' that money for scrapbook supplies!!!! LOL It is a lovely room I wouldnt change a thing!!
Beautiful! I love this room. I think it looks very cozy and it is so organized! It looks like you could go in and get lost for an entire week of scrapbooking!
WHAT A AWESOME ROOM!! IT'S JUST BEAUTIFUL, IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE FLOORING I WOULD GO WITH WOOD FLOOR WITH SOME PRETTY THROW RUGS!! I KNOW WOOD IS EXPENSIVE, SO I WENT WITH MANINGTON LAMINATE THAT'S CALLED "ANTIQUE BARN" AND EVERYONE JUST LOVES IT!
This is beautiful!!! Personally, I would go with wood flooring only because I have it in my home and I absolutely love it. It would brighten up your room even more (you said you love light - so do I). Did you get your desk at Ikea as well?
I definatley agree with Becki Jo about always worrying about specks of paper etc. But, I think no matter what you chose to cover the floor with, that would still be an issue, really. I think the dark floor really grounds the room and it looks really pretty. If I had this room I'm pretty sure I would either keep it this way or replace it with a dark wood floor.
If you keep the dark carpet, all of the tiny bits of paper scraps are going to show up and it is a constant battle of vacuuming. My personal preference is hardwood floors, bamboo flooring comes to mind. It is very durable too.
Your room is awesome. My son moved into a rental house his 2nd year of college and I started taking over his room...problem was he moved back into the dorm his 3rd year so I had to put his furniture back ...now I have to keep that room as a bedroom as we have our house on the market...so when we move, then I will finally have my space,,,so watch out.... :)
My DD is heading off to college in a few short weeks and I have taken over her "hang out room." The room was dark and had all dark furniture. I love light, so I placed as much white furniture as I could.
Here is where you all can help me....should I keep the black carpet or go lighter? Should I get tile or hardwood floors? I welcome all suggestions.
I am still working on the wall design you see pictured. Ikea had the most wonderful wall art (peel and stick) and I couldn't resist. Apparently, I didn't buy enough! Oh well, what a great excuse to head back for more shopping! lol.
