These are photos I took of me and my 1st-grader that I mentored this past school year. She was so precious, and these pictures of her are just plain adorable! I kept the LO super simple so that nothing would detract from the photos...
Journaling: Every Friday during the 04-05 school year, I went to Western Village Academy to participate in their mentoring program. Each college student who volunteered was matched with one elementary student and was asked to give one hour a week to provide personal attention for their student. I was matched with a 1st grader named Keionna. It took a few visits for her to warm up to me, but before long we became great friends.
Each week, we would finish her math homework together, then play a game or have fun outside. Our favorite game to play was “Memory” and she would often win. Sometimes we would tie a jump rope to the basketball goal in the playground so that she could jump while I turned the rope. This was probably my most favorite thing to do; playing out in the sunshine with one cute kid!
