Late one night a US warship escorted us overnight to be relieved by this German Frigate ( the Emden) in the morning for several hours. Several of their crew came over and paid us a visit....complete with a TV crew that is travelling with them. Apparently a few days later, we made the news in Germany " German Frigate protects sailing ship from Pirates in the Gulf of Aden" Well, not a pirate in sight of course! An interesting diversion for both ships. We met up with this frigate again when we reached port in Egypt and were able to take a tour. Oh...did I mention the US Coast Guard also floated along side us for a while that afternoon. (U S Coast Guard? Here? We're a long way from the US coast!) )
