Used by the Confederates before the battle of Lookout Mountain as headquarters and then after by the Union. It was later damaged by fire from Union artillery and was torn down after the battle. Mr. Craven rebuilt in 1866-a year after the war ended. As you can see the house is built right at the edge (notice the view of the river). It's amazing as it's so flat right there and then the terrain changes-see page 2!
