Hello Friends! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Its been a while since I have been able to work on a layout and post. I was on vacation visiting my soul sister, Lauri D., whom I met on Scapjazz 2 years ago. We met for the first time in July. Was an AWESOME trip and can't wait until I start scrapping it.

ANYHOO....this layout I just did this past week for a dear friend whom I have known for close to 40 years. We went to grade school and high school together, drifted apart, then about 11 years ago caught back up with each other and resumed our friendship right where we left off...like the years didn't pass us by. We've been on several girl weekends together, shared many tears over life's ups and downs. And I was very happy to hear that she and her soul mate finally set the date to marry. She and her new hubby are Harley Davidson riders and they ride around the upper Midwest with a wonderful group of folks. Shellie, being the unique person that she is, wanted to have a wedding that's about who they are and not the traditional way. No frilly dress or high heel shoes for this gal. No fancy flowers. No five-tier wedding cake with the kissing bride and groom. This was a Harley wedding. The blessed event took place in McGregor, Iowa on July 27th. Looking at her pictures on Facebook, it was a lovely day. Everyone lined their motorcycles to make a path for her to walk between, her flowers were burnt orange lilies and daisies. Her veil was a spunky black hat with a long train of netting flowing behind. The bride and her bridesmaids all wore orange tanks tops with black corsets overtop. The groom and his buds were dressed mighty spiffy in their t-shirts, jeans, and black Harley vests. Even the minister road with them, but unfortunately he owns a Yamaha bike. =)
They planned their reception at their home in Wisconsin for this weekend. Even though the invitations said no presents, being a scrapper, I could not pass up the chance to create a layout using a few of the pictures she posted to Facebook. I didn't use a whole lot of supplies on this LO, just wanted the pictures to tell the story. I worked mostly on the main flower, trying to get that to fit and blend in well. The motorcycle in the upper right was the result of NOT being able to find any motorcycle embellishments in any of the scrapping stores. I even searched the state of Washington when I visited in July. The end result was finding a cookie cutter at a shop in Leavenworth, WA in the shape of a motorcycle. What luck!! It was meant to be. Then I was stuck with figuring out who to design it. I knew I would be using clay (obviously), but the rest of it was unknown. Until the thought just popped up. My husband is a woodworker and has lots and lots of sandpaper in his shop. I had the idea of using 60 grit sandpaper to leave impression on the entire bike. I just laid a piece on top of the clay after I used the cookie cutter and lightly pressed down. Once the clay hardened I painted it black and then sprayed Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearl Mist over the piece. I was happy with the end result. The large flower is made up of two separate flowers from Wal-Mart. I used A LOT of Orange Peel stickles to create the sparkle-look. Stuck a few feathers, square bling, and smaller flowers. The surname is made using chipboard alphas, Tiger Lily Glimmer Mist. A black ink pad and a decorative stamp was used to create the images across the letters. A pretty simply LO to celebrate one of life's treasures: true love. =)
