Awww.....love this one, Natalie! Your work with gesso is STUNNING, and I especially love the way you have brought attention to your photos with all the layering underneath them....Awesome work.....no, I guess it would be more accurately described as play, my vintage sister!
Wowo...this is so beautiful, Natalie...I've been missing my gallery time lately and am so glad I happened upon this gem! You've really created an ambience with your colours and details and of course the fabulous photos! I struggle with the winter season as well and can really feel for you just looking at this- definite FAVE!!
I can really "feel" the moment with you simply by looking at this photo I can so relate to the peacefulness after a major winter storm. I always enjoy the art you create with twine/string. Its amazing!
This is very intriguing and definitely gives the feeling of the white beauty and stillness of deep winter. Really like your innovative technique with the cardboard, too.
WOW Natalie..you have certainly captured that winter feel...I can feel the chill by just looking at this breathtaking masterpiece. The photo is just amazing and the papers and embellishments couldn't be more perfect. It is quite mesmerising and I could look at it all day!! Absolutely love it!!!
Love all the layers, they seem to represent the layers of snow covering the ground and your lovely statue. The blue really reflects the chill of winter but the red(?) flowers bring warmth back. I actually have some dark pink violets that peek out of the snow in February! Very lovely Natalie!
Wow Natalie such a wonderful lo of precious thoughts. I love the way you chose to hide your feelings of winter.TFS the clever techniques you use. Great work.
This was originally intended for a OUAS challenge. The theme was "The Seasons", anyway one wished to interpret that. Also there were journaling requirements. Because of circumstances I wasn't able to submit it in time for the deadline.
I chose Winter. The photos are of my garden statue, she looked so deep in thought with the snow covering her. It was so quiet, utterly still, the storm had ended.
My hidden journaling is revealed by pulling out the white rose in the lower left. It says: "Winter is my time for contemplation. Lost in thought I wandered outside after a snowfall to discover my garden statue was also deep in contemplation!"......I go on to reveal darker feelings and thoughts that usually affect my mood in winter, but I won't reveal that here!
Distressing, ink, gesso, fussy cutting, and items from my garden are incorporated onto this page. I made the "branches" by cutting very thin strips of cardboard on the crossgrain, so that they curled when they were cut. A big thank you to my friend Patty Rogers," A Sassyscrapper"' for the vintage velvet violets! Violets in the snow, I love that!!!
