So last Saturday, this is what happened....I just had the most thrilling experience while I was sitting in my recliner reading and Ken was snoozing next to me. I started hearing a bird singing that I was pretty sure was a yellow-breasted chat and it was very close by. At first I thought it might be sitting outside on the washroom air conditioner. I quietly got up and realized it was coming from the boys' bedroom window. Fortunately, their light was off and I sneaked up to look out the open window, caught a movement, and that beautiful little bird was sitting on the windowsill!!!! I was shocked!!! I started mimicking some of its song and it got closer to the screen, not more than 3" away from me. Then it went over to the lilac bush about 3 feet away and kept singing. We went back and forth like that, then he'd come over to the sill and look at me and sing away!!! I would give anything to have had my camera where I could get a good picture. It is the first one I've ever seen, up close. They are very secretive, so this was a chance of a lifetime seeing one up close and personal. While he sat there on the windowsill he spread his wings straight up and made a beautiful display!! That just made my day!!!

The next day I took my camera outside and waited around for nearly two hours in order to try and get a few pictures of my feathered friend! The little bugger was so far away and I'm kinda short, the brush shows up between me and him! My first-ever yellow-breasted chat pictures!
