My paternal grandparents were married in 1916. My grandmother was 35 and my grandfather was 44. My grandfather died at the age of 55, leaving my grandmother with two sons, ages 9 and 12 whom she raised during the Great Depression. Those were difficult times, but she did a fine job of raising them to be fine young men.
