Sophia at her birthday party last May playing with Wooly Willy; a bit of quiet time during a pretty hectic day… I created this layout for Rae's Kitchen Sink NSD Challenge for Swirlydoos. Except for the one (glaring) example of why I should never do something that cannot be undone early in the morning before going to work, I really like the way this turned out. While searching for a photo for another challenge, I found this one that I just had to scrap. The colors didn’t go too well with the papers that I had on hand, so I uploaded it into PhotoBucket and used one of the effects to mute the colors and give it a rosier look. Following Rae’s recipe, I used 5 sheets of paper (all from the April kit): one of the Ruby Rock-It and four of the pretty Donna Salazar designs. I cut and distressed and layered them all, using a border punch on the layer that went under my photo. I selected the Village Sign Post chippie by Blue Fern Studios and darkened it with some Chox. After figuring out the placement, I applied a rubon to show through the oval “frame”. And now for a not so good idea: I don’t know why I decided to use the gold Embossing Paste. It was early in the morning and I wanted to do my stenciling then so it would be dry and hardened when I got home. In my defense, it didn’t seem so bright and metallic at the time, but it certainly was by the time I was ready to finish up the layout. I applied some Chox over it to tone it down, but now I could kick myself for not using white. Oh, well… I cut apart a bit of swirly bling and adhered it to the page to serve as butterfly trails. As you can see, one of the butterflies is part of the pattern; the other two were made from a scrap using my butterfly punch. I next glued a piece of the lace that came with the Project Kit under my photo and finished it all with the required seven flowers that came from my stash. As directed, I did not include a title or any journaling which I’m pretty expert at.
