My German grandmother, Omi, died on April 29, 1975...(which is today!)and her favorite flower was the Magnolia right outside her kitchen window. In NY, the Magnolias are either just finishing their bloom at the end of April, which is the norm, or midway thru. this year they are JUST blossoming...a very late Spring for sure! We cut several sprigs from the tree, and take them to the cemetary to lay on her grave, and that of her friend Fritz a few rows away, and finally on the grave of my mothers grandparents. Last year Juan was big enough to help Grandpa cut them. Ive never done a heritage page, but each of these three headstones have volumes of story to tell. Fritz (Freidrich) was a friend from Germany, he'd come to America sometime in the early 1920s along with Omi and Opa. As a young man he joined the US Army and fought in WWII, against the Germans. This is amazing, considering that many of their friends and family were rounded up and put in Internment Camps here in America, just like the Japanese were.
This LO fulfills several challenge categories: Pagemaps #4, Pinterest, and Movie (Flowers for Algernon). The title was cut from photo trimmings, as was the popped up sprig in the bottom corner. I also stamped some flowers.
Thanks for spreading positivity!
