When bold color, layered pattern, and crisp geometry come together, the result is a card that feels both energetic and intentional. For todays project, I leaned fully into that contrast by pairing the organic florals of the Petal Pop stencil set with the structured lines of the Refined Grid coverplate die.

The stencil work provides vibrant movement and color variation, while the grid overlay adds a clean, graphic finish that keeps the design feeling modern and balanced. With just a few carefully chosen embellishments and a softly layered sentiment, the background truly becomes the star of the show.

This is one of those designs where letting your tools do the heavy lifting pays off bold impact, clean construction, and plenty of visual interest without feeling busy.

Create a white, top-folding A2 card base and set aside.
Ink blend the Petal Pop stencil set onto a piece of white A2 cardstock.
Stencil 1: Clementine
Stencil 2: Mango Sorbet
Stencil 3: Fruit Punch
Stencil 4: Persimmon
Stencil 5: Rocky Slope
Stencil 6: Ocean Breeze, Aquamarine, Mermaid Cove
Die cut the completed stenciled panel using the Refined Grid coverplate die.
Adhere the grid die-cut panel to a white A2 panel using liquid glue.
Adhere that layered panel to the prepared card base.
Wrap orange and white bakers twine around the card front three times and tie a knot slightly off-center. Allow the twine tails to hang naturally for a relaxed finish.
Stamp the sentiment from Heartfelt Chapters in Detail Black ink and die cut. Stack the sentiment with two plain white die-cut blanks. On a third blank die cut, ink blend Mermaid Cove ink and adhere the sentiment slightly offset for added depth.
Adhere the layered sentiment to a double-stitched vellum circle using foam tape. Use additional foam tape to adhere the vellum circle to the center of the card, over the wrapped twine.
Finish the card with Peach Fuzz jewels, scattering them lightly to complement the warm tones in the stenciled background.

This card is a perfect example of how combining pattern and structure can elevate a design without overwhelming it. The bold florals bring energy, while the Refined Grid coverplate grounds the composition with clean, modern geometry. By keeping the embellishments minimal and the sentiment softly layered, the background is allowed to take center stageexactly where it belongs.
