great LO - even though I"m sure it hasn't been fun having a name that people associate with desserts ... at least it made for an awesome scrapbook page? No one ever made fun of my name but it's almost always mispelled. :/ The upside is as soon as anyone calls and asks for "Mr Joel" - I can immediately hang up on them because I know it's no one that knows me! *laugh*
Anyhow - back to your lovely lo - I love the scallops and the doodling around the edges! The cheesecake diecut is cute too!
Oh my gosh, that is the funniest story!!! I mean, yeah, I guess there is some meanness in there, but I think it's just AWESOME that you would journal about your name and your memories of it growing up. This is just terrific and a real pleasure to read!!!
Great job on the journaling. Why can some teachers be so mean? Good grief, kids hear him and they pick right up on!! Way to set a fine example, MR MUR ROBERTS< not!!! Sorry, I am just ranting.....high school was not a good time for me! Love the flowers! Great job on your BOM
awesome awesome awesome!! love your cheesecake, that is your handwriting?? you should submit that to Creating Keepsakes for money.. pm if you are interested, I know the link!
This is genius! I love the story and I love the LO design and the paper piecing. The inclusion of your senior pic and "vote" is fabulous! Did I mention I love this LO?!!
This is freaking' brilliant! I love what you did here. Your hand writing is exquisite. I love the journaling and how you added your year book pic was a nice touch! Let me tell you your cheesecake ROCKS! Nice doodling and your so creative!
A layout about my full name and why I've shortened it. Here is the journalling: Yes my name is Sarah-Leigh and no I'm not a cheesecake! For as long as I can remember I have been teased about my name - it doesn't matter what age I am it still happens. Originally my mum was going to call me Sarah - Rachelle but when I was born mum said it didn't suit so she named me Sarah-Leigh. Because I was born in New Zealand mum hadn't heard of the famous Sara Lee dessert so was unaware of the impending problems of such a name. In the beginning people would shorten my name to just Sarah but mum said I would put them in their place and tell them to call me by my proper name - in time I would shorten my name myself to avoid questioning and comments. When I started school teachers would comment and when I reached High School Mur Roberts became a most unpopular teacher who thankfully I only had for sport and only for one year. He would yell across the field "Run Cheese cake - pick up the pace!" and other such defamitory remarks. I don't have a middle name so it was easy for me to just drop the "Leigh" from my name and only use it on official documents - so my friends from highschool only knew me as "Sarah" and nowadays only family use my full name which sounds odd now. It sounds even more weird when Jason usus my full name (which has only been a couple of times including our wedding). Not long ago I had to get x-rays done on my teeth, and because all official stuff has my full name on it - they use it. Well this day was no exception with the receptionist loudly announcing my x-rays were ready. This old lady stands up and looks at me and then launches into a broadcast of her favourite Sara Lee desserts and why on earth did my mother name me that! So if you were wondering about my name now you know - I'm just thankful it's actually spelled differently. Here is my senior snippet from my highschool magazine / year book: it says "The best darn cheesecake" and I've blanked out my surname deliberately. TFL!
