This old tin type was so far gone you could not distinguish what it was before I worked on it.. It is still pretty bad but I gave it my best. I dont think I would have fooled with it had It not been written in the album who it was. It was take shortly after George returned from the Civil War.
George Booher 1834-1919
Annaeliza Phipps his wife
2 of his daughters Sis in the hat and Maria the child
It said the lady in the back was Molly Hooker I don't know who that is.
George was the son on Daniel R. Booher and the Grandson of Christian Booher. Great Grandson of Martin Booher b. 1746 in lancaster Co Pa. Martin was the son of Peter b. 1718 in Germany
George was in the Civil war and taken prisoner at Saltville Va. He was taken to Ft Deleware Prison. I have his records, when he came home he was never well again suffering from scurvy, rickets and Kidney disease. The prisoners there were forced to catch and eat Rats to survive. George did survive to come home to Eliza and the children, but his brother Samuel Daniel did not come home. He was on his way home from the civil war when he was caught by bushwackers and killed for his boots. To me these men were true heros. I wish this picture were clearer of him but I do have another one of him when he was older.. George and Eliza were my great great grandparents. Parents of John whose pic. I did with the pocket watch
