This is my grandfather in the early 1920's, a few years after he arrived in the U.S.

Journaling reads as follows: "My maternal grandfather, Cassimera Barklay Wheatley arrived at Ellis Island on September 4, 1920 via a ship called Guiana. He landed in Harlem just as the Harlem Renassance was beginning. Who knows how he learned the violin? Legend has it that here he is playing a Stradivarius."

At the top of the page is the Ellis Island logo. The tag includes the passenger record from the ship on which he traveled, which was copied dircectly from the Ellis Island record.
