To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee has been one of my favorite books since I was a child. When I started dating your dad
I made him read it & give me a book report. Six years later we have you, our daughter, named after the narrator: Scout Finch. Scout is a tomboy who is adventurous, inquisitive and a little blunt. Like your mom, her mouth gets her in trouble from time to time. She asks the tough questions that other people aren’t able to ask. She is spunky and headstrong and isn’t afraid to voice her opinions during a time of great turmoil and injustice. Her father, Atticus, taught her that while there is evil in the world, there is also great good in people if you approach them with sincere understanding. We don’t expect you to live up to any expectations, just to simply be your own person. We wanted to give you a name from a well-loved literary character that was strong, independent & classic.
