This one was a difficult one for me. A Mom's job is to protect her child. I know that in this case, I did not do my job. I pray that one day, I'll stop beating myself up about it. Journaling: On New Year’s Eve, 2007, Donovan was bitten by a “wild dog”. The wild dog was an acquaintance’s 18-month old pit bull that had not spent any time with children. The dog saw Donovan and immediately assumed he was a threat. Donovan was an animal lover and didn’t understand why the dog attacked him. We explained that the dog was young and just hadn’t learned his manners. Even though the dog caused him great pain and fear, Donovan is still an animal lover and has little fear of dogs, as long as they’re not “wild”.
