This layout contains many vintage buttons that I found in my Mom's button box. I wanted something that was truly hers when I did this computer generated layout. Journaling reads:
Freda Walker is my mother. She reached a huge milestone in her life in 1941 when WW II broke out. She had just become an adult and she had met my father that year too. He was in the Navy. They met when she had a date with a friend and he got sick so he sent Daddy in his place. I bet her friend was sorry! Daddy told him that night that he was going to marry that “sweet little girl.”
Freda worked for the Department of the Navy throughout WWII. She worried about Daddy and wrote to him every day. He became a Naval Navigator and they were married on Saint Patrick’s Day 1945.
Mother taught herself to sew because everything was so expensive during the war. She really did use feed sacks for skirts and blouses. She made clothes for her whole family but, everytime she saw Daddy she had a new outfit. He thought she was magic and he was so right! She taught me everything I know today. I even taught her a thing or two. She left me such a rich legacy, so many wonderful memories and an understanding of our heritage.
