Can't see the caterpillar in the first picture? He's to the upper left of the coin and about the length of Eisenhower's forehead. No one in John's preschool class could find it either! He'll have to make another trip next week. Monarch caterpillars are very easy to take care of as long as you have a supply of fresh milkweed leaves. It's the only food they eat. It makes them taste yucky to predators and helps them survive. I intentionally let a few milkweed plants grow in our garden as a Monarch habitat, I just don't let them go to seed as a neighbor annoyance. Milkweed is a perrenial plant and our variety has pinkish flowers.
Mini-kit used is Summer Solstice by Christina Sturmaggio, one of 5 mini-kits in her June Grab Bag due out June 15th at Sophia Sarducci's. Paper used to fill the word "caterpillar" has had the color altered. Template used is from All Torn Up by Janet Phillips at Scrapbookgraphics.
