Ouch! That HAD to hurt. Wise docs figured out it was an allergic reaction ;). I had my had swell up huge like that after a bee sting. My son gets facial swelling from Earwigs. They will bite but I don't know why they seek him out. And they always bite him on the face. I have to take him to the ER because his face swells so much he has trouble breathing. Your DD's is also close to her trachea so it would help to know what bit her and it probably was a bite but its not a black widow or brown recluse at least. Could even be a red ant but those usually come to a head. Earwig bites on my son never come to head and show no signs of the bite once it swells. The only reaon that Im pretty sure it was an earwig is that I saw one on his face in the area where the swelling began when I went into his room while he was sleeping and I knocked it off his face. About 30 later I had this feeling I had better check him and his face was all swollen including around his neck. So I woke him took him to the ER. You probably caught hers in time. Hope you find out and that it doesn't happen again.
Poor baby! We had a similar thing, but my daughter is allergic to antihistamines! We are allergic to stawberries! After a day at the strawberry farm we lloked like a disaster!
Poor thing! I'm glad it came down to normal, but how scarry! I hope whatever she is allergic to is discovered, sot this doesn't happen again. It's good that you documented this, in case it comes up later on!
Poor lil' punkin! I'd forgotten about Eddie Murphy - - I first thought of Will Smith in "Hitch" after a little too much seafood. Glad you were able to find some treatment to help out. I'm a believer in Zyrtec - - has helped me survive the last few allergy seasons! Sure would be interesting to know what the culprit was! Take care, M
awww, poor little sweetheart....my dd got hives once, and the Dr said so many things can cause it that there is no way to really know! Thank goodness for antihistamines.
And I'm sure she was thrilled that mom had to take a picture of it and post it on this site! Oh, man, I am so sorry...I hope they can figure out what it is. She's too sweet for all that!
My daughter (10) developed allergies in the last 6 months or so and though we've had her tested, we have no idea what caused THIS. She woke up this morning looking like Eddie Murphy's character in "The Nutty Professor" and was just miserable! A trip to the doctor (after a treatment of Zyrtec at home) confirmed it was a severe allergic reaction (Ya THINK???), but not sure to what. She was put on prescription strength antihistamines and after about 5 hours was back to normal. Poor thing!
