Looking closely at this layout I realize that the pages are reversed - luckily I haven't put them into an album yet so it will be easy to fix. So you'll have to imagine them on opposite sides, although I guess if I hadn't mentioned anything no one would have noticed :)
Notre Dame's portals of Sainte Anne is on the left page in the photo. Its actually the door on the far right of the cathedral when you're facing the front. The tympanum over the portal shows the illustration of the sainting of Mary, she's holding child Jesus on her lap.
The page on the right is of the center, Christ's portal. The journalling reads: "The center doorway is the portal of the Last Judgement. The tympanum depicts three levels of drama. Starting at the bottom is shows the ressurection of souls, and above that the weighing of souls. At the top Christ sits in judgement with Mary, St. John, and angels at his side. Between the doors stands a statue of Christ and he is flanked on each side of the splays by the Apostles. The covings of the arch represents the whole court of Heaven, and at the base of the covings are representations of Heaven (on the left) and Hell (on the right)."
I hope you can see all the detail of this doorway, its so fascinating. My husband was impressed of the sculpture of the angel and demon with the weights which is the picture on the upper right corner of the right page.
The bear on the lower left picture on that page is Clubber, he's our travel bear... you may have seen him in some pictures already if you've peeked in the gallery. He makes appearances occasionally during the trip.
Thanks for looking!!
