This is an older pic of Madeleine last summer picking dandelions! I guess it's the bright colour that attracts her to them....that, and they're the only flower that we'll let her pick! What's even more funny is that, at the time, she preferred the dandelions once they had gone to seed! She used to go on long walks with Grandma and Grandpa and come home with a whole bucket full of seedy dandelions...much to my husband's chagrin! (He's an ex-landscaper and takes great pride in our lawn. LOL!)
This layout is a little out of the box for me. I much prefer working with subtle and more subdued colours, but the picture was just too bright to work with anything but brighter colours. I love IngridG's work and aside from using a white background, she's usually adds beautiful stitching to her layouts, so I thought I'd give it a go! (I have a long way to go before I meet up with your standards Ingrid!) I stitched the yellow doodles around the yellow circle and used corset stitching down the middle. Sgoetter had some beautiful blooms on a recent layout that reminded me of dandelion blooms and I loved them so much that I tried to duplicate them by stitching them into the paper. It took a long time, but I was pleased with the final result! I only added one retro flower bloom, which is a first for me...I had to hold myself back...LOL, but it looked so right and balanced out the title, so there it is!
The white dots on the dandelion blooms and the yellow border around the pink shield are done with fabric paint. The butterflies are stamped and have stickles on them to give them a little sparkle!
The background paper is white, although it looks blue. I've received much helpful advice about altering the colour of the pic of the layout in photoshop, but I'm just not having any luck...sigh...
Thanks for having a look! I appreciate you stopping by!
