The aftermath of my ds's bike wreck this past summer! What a trooper!

File folder tab says "Youthful."

Quote says: "Life is either a daring ADVENTURE...or nothing." Helen Keller

Journaling is hidden in a pocket (red) that sticks up above the top left photos. It tells the story of what happened:

You are a boy. Through and through. So sooner or later I knew it was going to happen…I just didn’t think your first major bike wreck would be THIS soon!

You were playing at the top of Mellert Drive with the neighborhood kids when your wild streak told you to hop on your bike, pick up your feet, and see how fast you could fly down the road. Unfortunately, you did not realize that your lack of aim had steered you straight into our group of parents standing at the bottom of the hill holding two newborn babies. I’m sure your brain quickly went into panic mode when you discovered that a Rock-N-Roll Tryke has no breaks! You tried to stop with your feet, but when that failed you did the only other thing possible to prevent us from being turned into human bowling pins…YOU BAILED! And, unfortunately, you then slid the rest of the way down the street on your face.

You cried and bled, but remained pretty brave while daddy and I rushed to your rescue. We cleaned you up at the James’ house and within minutes you were asking to go back outside again. I was astounded that you were so eager to rush back out. But daddy understood.

Then again, daddy was once a boy. Boys are rough. Boys are tough. Boys have wrecks. And I’m sure this will be the first of many for you…since you, too, are a boy.
