This is a an approximately 120-year-old desk that has been sitting in my garage holding tools for approximately 25 years. I had it appraised at an antique shop and found out that it wouldn't be "sellable" in its present condition because the insert that would have held letters, etc., was missing. So instead of going to the trouble and expense of restoring it to its original finish, I sanded it down and painted it white to go in my new scrap room. Replaced the rusty hardware with glass knobs and it's good to go! TFL
