While we were in San Francisco I asked Bill if he knew where the Haight-Ashbury district was. I remember hearing so much about it in the late sixties but had never been.

As soon as we got to the famous intersection of Haight and Ashbury he pulled over and parked the van so I could wander around and take pictures.

When I got out of the van, right at my feet was the name “Henri” written in the concrete. It is not a common name and he's had fun teasing me about being there before. I have never met anyone else with my name spelled H-E-N-R-I… what a coincidence!

Bill says he has proof that I've been there before! But honestly, this is was my one and only trip to the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco!

"San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear some Flowers in Your Hair)" is a song, written by John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas, and sung by Scott McKenzie. The song, which was written and released in 1967, encouraged thousands of young people to move to San Francisco. That summer of 1967 is known as the “Summer of Love”.

If you're going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you're going to San Francisco
You're gonna meet some gentle people there

For those who come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
In the streets of San Francisco
Gentle people with flowers in their hair

All across the nation such a strange vibration
People in motion
There's a whole generation with a new explanation
People in motion people in motion

For Those Who come to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there

If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
