Week 1 - Chapter 6 Challenge: Painting the Roses Red!

'A large rose-tree stood near the entrance of the garden: the roses growing on it were white, but there were three gardeners at it, busily painting them red. Alice thought this a very curious thing, and she went nearer to watch them, and just as she came up to them she heard one of them say, `Look out now, Five! Don't go splashing paint over me like that!' -- Chapter 8, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

The club cards were painting the white roses red to avoid angering the Queen of Hearts, so your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to use PAINT on your creation! Of course you can paint it RED like the design team will be doing, but you can also use other colors. You need to tell us what item was painted and what technique you used!

We are sponsored this month by Creative Inspirations

SO, are YOU ready to PAINT? As always, entries that portray some aspect of Wonderland will have two chances at the randomly awarded prize.
*********
I'm almost late for this challenge, again... so 'White Rabbit' of me.
I decided to make a sign for the Studio door,
NOT
that my children will ever acknowledge it.
Sign base was 8 X 5 1/2 ", though it spread out from that by the end.

The Painting Hand is actually mine,
you can actually see the rings I never take off.
Couldn't find a satisfactory 'hand' image online and after sitting here frustrated I looked down and *smack* saw my hand and the camera beside it, duh! I sized, printed and glued to some heavy cardboard then cut it out. Voila!

I used Forest Green paint on the wooden base, watered down heavily then 'stained' it, 2 good coats.
Also a bloop of Sky Blue behind the 'garden' section.
The final touch was painting the White Flowers Red... real paint, real brush... great use for a brush that got left out with glue on it (oops!) and was essentially garbage. Waste-Not, Want-Not!
So hopefully that gets the 'Alice-Like' extra point in the Challenge. ;o)

Hot glued the brush right into *my* hand and blooped the extra Red paint right onto the brush tip after attaching it all to the sign. It took about 5 goes because the paint kept soaking into the brush. But... it worked out beautifully. Really like the older paint smeared all over the brush, so glad it didn't go to waste.

I made a 'Creative Garden' over on the left of the sign. Used some cupcake liners, a glass ladybug, an embroidered butterfly and some chipboard flower and dragonfly stick-on embellies.

The Sign wording part was sprayed and splattered with Tattered Angel's Glimmer Mists, edged in black ink and then doodled a bit with a Sharpie. Finally a sprinkling of hearts and Bling-age, also snuck 1 wee paper-punched gear in there... 'cause it's me. ;O)
