Maryanne, this is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE it, FAV!!!! and i so enjoyed reading your description!!! I love to hear about old towns! awesome old building.
Here is my 1st layout for the year and also the 1st after a 3month break. This is the tiny little town of Emu in Central Victoria or I should say a spot on the road. Blink and you miss it...lol. It is part of my husbands youth when his parents owned a farm just down the road. The town consisted of a church and community hall, a one room state school, railway station, tennis courts and this General store which was also a post office...you can see the mailbox still there. It also had a fuel bowser which has been long removed. That was pretty much the whole town and it was serviced by farms that were surrounding the district, and from the stories my dh told me, there was more to do in that little community than there was in the city. It is all pretty much abandoned and no longer in use now, although the farms and community spirit are still there. At the end of last year they had a back to Emu reunion. My DH and I weren't able to attend so one of our daughters went in place to represent him. She took this photo and sent it to us and I decided I should scrap it and include it in his heritage album as a reminder of those good ol' days when life was simple. This was hard to photograph as the corrugated cardboard made it curl a bit and I couldn't get a square on pic. I used a DA windmill and chickenwire. The gumnut leaves are from ScrapFX and were given to me by my sweet friend Chez. The Emu is also from scrapFX and the other leaves are made by Out there Chippie. Thanks so much for popping by and taking a peek and also thankyou to all who have asked after me over the past couple of months...it is heartwarming to know I have made so many wonderful friends here at sb.com. Hugs to you all :)
