Amazing, such great information!!! And what a wonderful way to make the pocket out of the death certificate! (is wonderful the right word here??!!, probably not in reference to her queer death, but you know what I mean!)
For this page, I used Catharine's Death Certificate to create a pocket to hold the news article I found about her "queer death". I used RootsMagic 5 Software to create the family tree. The news article reads as follows: "From the Philadelphia Inquirer, March 13, 1898.
Woman's Queer Death
Coronor's Jury Fail to Reach a Verdict at Bristol
Special to the Inquirer
BRISTOL, March 12 - Mrs. [Catharine] Wall, 48 years old, who lives on Spruce Street, was found lying dead on a settee in her house early this afternoon, while her brother, John Mahan, lay asleep upon the floor nearby.
The body was found by a 14-year-old daughter [Elizabeth] of Mrs. Wall. Dr. Wyckoff, who happened in, saw that the death had taken place at least half an hour before.
An inquest was held to-night [sic], the evidence of the two little daughters of the dead woman, two neighbors, and Mahan being heard, but the jury was unable to agree upon the verdict.
The evidence was conflicting. Mahan testifying that he got breakfast this morning, while one of the little daughters said her mother performed that service. Mahan admitted to having been intoxicated today, and one of the little daughters said that there was no bruise on her mother's face this morning when she left the house.
A post-mortem examination will be made tomorrow by Dr. Shroup, of Eddington, or Dr. Groom, of Bristol."
