In front of the ship was a long line of tents with vendors selling souvenirs and we couldn't resist. Two new t-shirts for me (hey- at $5.00 each, we can afford two of them!) and a Vietnam magnet for my awesome hair dresser, Ron, a new backpack for Bill which is big enough to hold my Walkman Stool which I like to have with me when we visit the ports. We like to pack a picnic lunch on the ship and eat them in the parks in various countries and the backpack is plenty big to hold our lunch and any t-shirts or souvenirs we buy in ports.
I remembered that we didn't change any of our American money for local currency since everyone here accepts American money we were told that it was not necessary to get local money, because we would not need it. But, I wanted a Dong (what their currency is called) for my scrapbook and since we had 30 more minutes until we had to be on board, Bill ran out again in search of one. The smallest denominator of Dong is $20,000 so Bill came back with a $20,000 Dong for my scrapbook. He told me not to get too excited though. It's worth about 90 cents American. The actual exchange rate – 26,000 Dong to one American dollar!
