This is me and my family. The journaling reads:
Five generations of women. My great great grandmother, Anna Mae Shelton, lived long enough to meet me. The women in my family showed me how to be strong and perservere. They also taught me that persistence pays, so there is no reason not to get what you want out of life. Great Grandma Hampton told me to never be afraid to fight for what I want, what is right, and for my family. Grandma Kathy was full of advice and faith. I needed both. Mom was complicated, but she did everything to the best of her ability & did it out of love. I hope my legacy is as full of strength, love, and faith as theirs was.

The journaling next to my baby photos reads: June 1982 at Granny Rosie's house in Olney. She kept me during the day while my mom went to school. After graduation she kept me b/c she wanted to.

inchokkachaffa means family in muskogean. it translates into people of one home. I am Choctaw and Chickasaw. Muskogean is our native language. I only know a little, but wanted to include it since my great great grandmother still spoke muskogean and my great grandma is the one who taught me some of what I learned.
