This is the house we had built for Joe on our property. Joe was too old and too independent to live in a bedroom in our house - I don't think any of us would have been happy so we had a house built for him next to our house so he could be independent but we would still be there for him since his seizures were so active then. Still hard to believe that after the brain surgery in January he is now seizure free!

Joe's house is a serious man-cave. He loves it and so do all his friends. Downstairs is the kitchen, living room, dining area and half-bath. Upstairs is the bedroom, laundry area and an open office space.

He is particularly fond of the screened in porch which is 27' wide (width of his house) and goes out 8'. There is a window sash from his bedroom to the porch so the cats (indoor cats) can get to there food, water and litter box on the porch.

TWO TOP PHOTOS: Joe's kitchen. The tile on the floor is caramel and off-white colored - not orange! He is really proud of his Jenn-Air stainless steel stove! It was found in a thrift shop – barely used with the original sales receipt of over $2,300 inside with all the papers. The thrift store wanted $350 for it but since it was senior discount day Bill got it for $175.00. Problem was the smooth surface top was cracked. While in the thrift store Bill called Jenn-Air and found that the replacement top was $450. While talking to the rep, Bill gave the serial number and was told that the stove was so new it was still under warranty so Jenn-Air sent Joe a new smooth stove top at no charge! That is the deal of a lifetime!

LEFT MIDDLE PHOTO: Joe's office which is upstairs. He has a drafting desk and all kinds of office things – plus, Bill and Joe found a set of school lockers and Joe really liked them so Bill bought them for him. The locks actually work and Joe keeps art supplies in them.

LOWER LEFT: Joe's upstairs screened-in balcony. It is 28' wide and extends out 8'. The entry to the balcony is through the sliding glass doors in his bedroom. Joe has two cats and their litter box is on the porch as well as their food and water. Joe's bedroom window has a cat sash (window with a cat door in it) so the cats can go from his bedroom to the screened-in balcony to get to their food and litter box. No odor in his house.

LOWER RIGHT: This is Joe's living room. Don't all guy's houses have a Coke machine in the living room? On top is a container of quarters so his friends can grab a quarter and get a drink. To the left of the Coke Machine is Joe's DVD movie collection – over 500 movies. A couple guitars on the wall, a Hard Rock Café neon clock and a couple more guitars. This is not a souvenir Hard Rock clock – this one used to be in one of the early Hard Rock cafés. It is pretty large and heavy - Bill gave it to Joe for Christmas last year.
