Oh my! What a sensational composition! Wonderful textures, fussy cutting, and misting. Love the soft earthy tones and the personal momentos. So heartfelt and utterly gorgeous
What a wonderful story of such peace and contentment you have captured in this glorious vintage page with all the little details you have kept. The photo is beautiful and pretty elegant framing surrounding it.
I love the simple life, and you have captured it gorgeously here! Love that you included all the "little things" like the basket and tag created by the people you love! I always get excited when I see that you have posted, because it is always FABulous~
Scrapped to perfection; lovely photo, beautiful natural embellies; old momentos and loving hands to put all together! Love that tiny apricot pit basket...to still have that is AWESOME!! The colour palette is wonderful...especially with the tiny touch of purple! Another magnificent creation...welcome back!!

Oh how I have missed seeing your WONDERFUL, GORGEOUS, HEARTWARMING, FANTASTIC los. You have once again managed to capture and convey a little bit of your family history on a 12 X 12 layout. I absolutely love all the elements you have included. A family TREASURE for sure Natalie. TFS!!!
I am so glad that you are back. You have no idea how much I look forward to your wonderful los!! When I saw this one I knew it had a special story behind it and you did not disappoint me! It's wonderful, all those special details and treasures. Love every inch of it!
Another amazingly creative page, Natalie - so fresh and natural - I love all the little embellishments from your mom's childhood. It's another instant FAVE. This is going to be a very wonderful album. So glad to see you back and posting again. I've thought of you and missed you.
Such a pretty page in honour of your mom. I like the little elements you used that were made by your mom and dad. Using real scraps is one of my favourite things to use to embellish a page. Heartwarming!
Truly a precious and meaningful layout. Her story touched a soft spot in my heart and brought tears to my eyes. Made me think of my mom and grandmother, who have been on my mind so much lately. Last Saturday would've been my mother's 86th birthday. Love all the wonderful elements used to make this. Very sentimental.
Finally getting back to posting, after a summer break! This page was made way back in June for the SATW challenge.
This is actually the opening page for the book I'm making about my Mom's childhood. Thus the title.
The sweet little photo of my Mother is the earliest one I have of her and was probably taken in 1st grade. It is tiny! She is giving a hesitant, yet dear little smile for the camera. Along the bottom of the layout I added elements that had special meaning to my Mom's life when she was a little girl. I also added some personal mementos - the little tag with the basket with "johnny jump ups" was actually made by my Mom. Also the little basket carved out of an apricot pit was made by my Dad, something he learned to do in WW2 in Europe.
When Mom was a little girl she was always outside in the fields, meadows, and woods that surrounded her home. Gathering fruits, berries, mushrooms, flowers and all manner of wild things was a very big part of her life. She went with her immigrant Mother often to collect things for the family's use. They always used baskets to hold their treasure. Mom was also an avid recorder of the natural world, sketching and observing wild things, especially birds and wildflowers. Looking back on her early years, she recalled with great fondness how simple and poetic life was for her then. I hope that this page filled with grasses, flowers and natural objects reflects the innocence, lightness and wonder of her childhood. It is my way of honoring her youth.
I used various inks, sprays, masks, pastes, and fussy cutting to assemble this layout.
Thank you to all who look and comment, I truly appreciate your kindness!!
