Sunday, December 23rd, 2013 – Mom loves the Sunday before Christmas when the youth group from Hickory Grove Baptist Church goes Christmas caroling. Her house is always the last house on the route so she provides plenty of Yoo Hoo chocolate drinks and other soft drinks for the carolers as well as some small snacks or treats.
This year Bill, Joe and I went to Alabama earlier that day so we could share the afternoon with her and enjoy the carolers.
Later my sister-in-law, Denvia came over with her daughter-in-law, Amanda, and her two grandchildren, Aubrey and Jackson. We all had a wonderful time sitting on the porch waiting for John, Danielle and my granddaughter, Roan to arrive from Dallas, Georgia.
We knew this was going to be a special Christmas. It was mom's first Christmas with both of my brothers and me in probably 30 years. It was my first Christmas in 30 years with my mom and both of my brothers and my first Christmas with my John and Joe in 7 or 8 years. Roan is the first grandchild for Bill and me and this was our first Christmas with her! This was going to be an awesome Christmas!
Monday, December 24th, 2013 – it's CHRISTMAS EVE!
After Breakfast mom, Bill, Joe and me as well as John, Danielle and Roan went to my brother, Greg's house. We visited with Greg and Sandra and their daughter, Tiffany, for about an hour.
Then we went to visit my other brother, Randy, and his wife Denvia. Randy and a wonderful fishing pond put in his back yard across the field and it is very fully stocked. My oldest nephew, Brandon was there also with his wife, Amanda, and their two children, Aubrey and Jackson. Fishing poles were passed around – and all of our mouth's were watering thinking of the 8 beautiful catfish we would be having for Christmas eve dinner!
Bill picked up steaks to go with the catfish so we could have a surf and turf dinner for the entire family. Bill grilled the steaks and mom fried the catfish – what a feast!
It was a packed house! There was mom, I was there with Bill and Joe, John Danielle and Roan were there, Randy and Denvia were there with their oldest son, Brandon and his wife and two children. Greg and Sandra were there with their youngest daughter, Tiffany.
