POD 9 Bird of Prey

I submitted this to the bird experts and 4 people responded and all agree that it is a Red-tailed Hawk. I see where I went wrong with identifying it...I've never seen a hawk this close up so the feathers on the legs threw me off...now that I know that I can plainly see that it is a Red-tail. Two people wanted me to tell you that ''it is an awesome shot''. :)

Awesome capture! I'm fairly certain it is either a Ferruginous Hawk or a Rough-legged Hawk...but I'm not sure which one tho. I'm leaning towards RLH because of the dark eye but the long yellow gape makes me think FH. I belong to a bird forum and with your permission I could submit this photo for a positive ID. :)

I can tell you it is a hawk but what kind I hawk I don't know! I do know it is a great catch of it though. I wonder what he was doing on the ground like that?

At least this time I did not nearly wreck my bike to stop and photograph this beautiful bird, I have no idea what kind of bird it is and would love to know.
