Love your page and your story - you were one of the women who laid the groundwork for the future - women have come a long way, but the playing field is still not even - thanks for sharing your story ~
I love how you made this for your nieces to inspire them to follow their dreams! That is so wonderful! I love your story so much! Thanks for sharing it with us, and thank you for sharing your beautiful page, too!
That is awesome! Back in 1982 the oilfield was booming here and I saw lots of women trying to make it in a so-called man's world. Glad to see you accomplished your goal. Beautiful layout and so inspirational.
way to go! Great story and page. My neighbor and her DH had a lawn mower business some years back and she was the only woman who attended the school to get her mechanic's license at the time...
I LOVE that story Sheryl!! you "da man"!!! LOL!! This is a great layout! love the papers, great photos as well!! Awesome layout!! I love those papers too!
Looooved reading your story and have to agree with Hel 'you Rock' Totally fabulous page and so glad you scrapped this about yourself...what an inspiration you are to your nieces. Yes, I would love to have full service back again!!

Wow..that comment he made to you would have ticked me off in a BIG way! I am so glad you got the expenses paid vacation and he got the boot! You did a really good job with the G45 pps; your photos are great, and the layering is awesome!! Loved the journaling!
Great story - love that you broke into the boy's club. Very cool and interesting details. So nice that you were able to win that trip to London and become #2 in the southeast.
Very impressive! I know how it is to work "in the boys club"! I didn't own it, and I did quit! Congrats to you! You have so much to be proud of! I love the layout and the photos!
What an interesting story! I had no idea that in order to be a Chevron franchisee you had to attend a training school or that it was considered a "man's business" to run a gas/service station. Pretty layout and great journaling.
A page for my Book about Me. Hoping to inspire my nieces to always follow their dreams and let them know they can be whatever they want! I love being a homemaker and entrepreneur. Remember when we had full service gas stations?
Journaling: Back in 1982 we had full service gas with auto repair shops. It was still very much a "man's world" and not very many women were in this business. In order to be a Chevron franchisee you had to attend a training school. I was the only woman in the class. During one of the sessions the man sitting next to me leaned over and whispered in my ear "You're a real sweet girl but this business is no place for a woman. You should be home baking cookies". After that comment I was more than ever determined to make it. I was only 25 and wanted to quit many times. Fast forward 4 years and my location was number 2 in the southeast and he was out of business! That year I won an all expenses paid trip to London from Chevron.
So many ladies do an awesome job with the GP45 papers. I find them very hard to work with! Thanks so much for taking a peek!
