In 1846, The Louisiana Legislature decided to move the capital from New Orleans to Baton Rouge. New York architect James Dakin designed the building and referred to its style as “castellated gothic.” Construction began in 1847 and ended in 1852. During the Civil War, the capitol was used as a Union prison and garrison. The capitol was used until 1932 when the new and current capitol was completed. We loved the stained glass and the stone lions. Amazing!

For the Cricut, hoarders (strips and floral paper), scraps (vellum and white cardstock) and travel challenges.
