Stopnstare - I used the joint compound in place of a texture cream or modeling paste. It adds a raised texture to the background. I then colored it using inks and embossing powder. It takes the color extremely well.
Fantastic LO!! Speaking as a gramma myself nothing makes us happier than grand babies. I've tried the wallpaper paste but it was too thick did you thin it out??
My mom loves my DD so much.... I love this picture. How happy my mom looks and how DD looks like a little doll with her big blue eyes.
I played with the background, adding some texture with drywall paste (way cheaper than modeling paste and gives an amazing effect!). I then used inks and embossing powder to add color.
I love the way it turned out! The drywall paste actually preserved the color of the inks and kept the colors bright.
