This page is the first of a ‘passions’ album I've been planning on making for a while - to document the musicals and operas I've seen. This particular layout has been haunting my sleep the last few nights when I remembered I had this fab butterfly paper that would make an awesome background for the Madame Butterfly brochure.Since the brochure is two-sided and I wanted to still be able to read both sides, I hinged it using washi tape and then hand-stitched the tape down (since it kept lifting at the bottom). I also decided I wanted as many of the butterflies on the paper to show as possible so I used the center of the doily for my journaling. The butterfly embellishments I made myself by punching them out of white vellum. Then I used pearl embossing powder with a floral swirl stamp to pattern them, inked the edges in orange and spritzed them with Heidi Swapp Colour Shine in primerose for a bit of glimmer. The tiny butterflies were also punched from white vellum, inked in orange, spritzed with sorbet Mr. Huey's mist and given a wash of distressed straw Stickles glitter glue.I also watched the Amy Tan PL video last night about hand-stitching on pages and that inspired me to include the stitching, which I repeated around the page and used to make a subtle ‘flight path’ for the top-most big butterfly.
