This is my second installment for the Winter Holiday Cards in July Challenge. Do you remember the Inkadinkado Cardinal cards I CASED from Nora? Well I also fell in love with this Inkadinkado Christmas Chickadee, but I didn't want to give him the same layout. I went looking online for ideas, and I found a card that had him stamped in brown, die-cut in a circle, and matted with a piece stamped with a woodgrain background image. I wanted to link that card here, but I can't find it. I'll keep looking.

CARD:
4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Bazzill cardstock
Stampin' Up! Black cardstock
Swarovski flatback rhinestones, SS16, Jet Black
Inkssentials Matte Accents (I thought I would need something really strong to hold the crystals onto the background treated with Dimensional Pearls. I decided to try this since everyone says it's a great adhesive, and I wanted something matte that wouldn't show if some seeped out around the crystals. I love this stuff!)

FOCAL IMAGE:
Inkadinkado Christmas Chickadee
Canson 96-lb. Bristol
Versafine Onyx Black inkpad
Prismacolor Pencils (colors below)
Zest It (to blend the colors on the bird, not used on leaves or berries)
Spellbinders Nestabilities, Labels 3 (to die-cut, emboss, and mask)
Distress Ink, Antique Linen (applied to image using the Nestabilities die as a mask)
Signo Uniball gel pen (bird's eye)

FAUX WOODGRAIN MAT:
I used a technique that Jennifer McGuire taught us in her Thinking Inking Class, Week 6, Part 3. She called the technique Kissed Watercolor Background. My woodgrain now has a lovely sheen to it–perfect for a Christmas card.

140-lb. hot-press watercolor paper
Dimensional Pearls, Mushroom and Espresso
Water spray
All Night Media Stamp, uninked

I used the gray side of Ranger's Cut N Dry Stamp Pad Foam to apply the Dimensional Pearls, spritzed it with water, spread it around some more, and applied more paint. While still wet, I used the uninked woodgrain stamp to make an impression in the acrylic paint and to remove some of it.

PRISMACOLOR PENCIL COLORS:
Bird -- Cool Grey, 10% and 20%; French Grey, 20% and 30%; 1082, Chocolate; 942, Yellow Ochre
Leaves -- 1005, Limepeel; 911, Olive; 109, Prussian Green
Pine Needles -- 908, Dark Green
Berries -- 924, Crimson Red
