These cards are for Anne's Double-Take Challenge. Let me point out, before you ban Anne's challenge, that you don't have to do what I did. Anne's challenge is just to make a mirror image by stamping something on two sides of a piece of tissue paper. I'm the one that decided to do a mirror image of just one part of an image. I had no idea what that entailed until I began.

Cards:
4 1/2“ x 5 5/8”
Bazzill cardstock
Craft Tissue Paper
Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock
Impression Obsession stamp (original image in 3rd scan)
Hero Arts Flourish Background stamp on green frame
VersaMark ink & Perfect Pearls on green frame
Golden Soft Gel (Matte)
Prismacolor Markers
Sakura Gelly Roll Glaze Pens
Sakura Clear Stardust Pen (actually silvery)
Nestabilities Labels 11

1. I masked the entire die except the pelican. I inked the pelican and stamped it on tissue paper.

2. I turned the tissue over, masked the 1st pelican image on the tissue and masked the water lines and stars on the die before inking the die. I stamped the rest of the image on the tissue paper using a stamp position to position the second pelican, etc. (Important note: When you mask the rubber die, remember to remove the mask before stamping. I forgot to not once, but twice!

3. Next, I masked the entire image on the tissue paper, and I masked everything except the shortest post on the rubber die. I inked the post and used the stamp positioner to place the post below the 1st pelican.

4. I did something similar to put stamp the water lines beyond the extra post. I also used a fine-line black pen to add lines where needed.

5. I put Golden Soft Gel (Matte) on a piece of cardstock, put the tissue paper image on top of the gel and topped it with more gel. (The first time I did this, I was stingy with the gel on the cs; it didn't stick well, and the paper tore when I moved it. The next time, I used a healthy amount of gel, and it worked much better.)

6. When all was dry, I colored the image with Prismacolor Markers (alcohol markers). Since the gel medium is acrylic, I was limited as to what I could use to add color. I used Sakura Gelly Roll Glaze pen for the berries and on the star ornament. I used Sakura Clear Stardust pen on the circles in the sky. They look gray in the scan, but they are silver IRL.

7. I used the largest of the Nestabilites Labels 11 to cut out the red and green frames. The green frame was a piece I had stamped for one of Jennifer McGuire's Thinking Inking classes. I stamped a HA flourish background with VersaMark and brushed on Perfect Pearls Patina Green and Patina Blue and misted it with water to set the PP.

8. I mounted the cardfronts onto cards. I edged the white card with a red Tombow Marker.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. I'm not going to tell you that one of my first pelicans had stars all over its body or that I masked the wrong side of the die and removed the wrong water lines, or that the . . . You get the idea. I had a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that I was dealing with a reverse image. I was masking the die as well as the stamped image. I threw a lot of images in the wastebasket. I rescued one of them so I could make two cards.

Anne, thank you for the challenge. I think. LOL. I was intimidated about coloring this image. This is the first time I've used it, and believe me, I'm ready to color the original image now.

TFL.
