Wonderful photo and lo for your heritage album. Are you writing all the descriptions/stories on the backs of the los or hid the journaling somewhere? it would be a shame to lose all this family history.
Beautiful pic - a real treasure. Women had hard lives back then, and no makeup, as we have today, so it was much more difficult to look "beautiful" - which is a subjective thing anyway. I love the character in her face. That shiny fabric & style of her cape, along with the pleated sleeves of the bodice in Matilda's dress, indicate that she was very well dressed, in her "Sunday best", as they used to say.
Very cool layout. I bet even though she wasn't very pretty. She was probably the love of her husband life. We all kind of lose our looks as we get older.
Matilda is the wife of Richard. My husband goes, well, she wasn't very pretty. She might have been, I think she looks sweet. Matilda lived to be 84. Matilda and Richard's home was a two story log cabin surrounded by high hills in Northern TN, very near KY. I love her dress and it appears that the cameo holding her scarf is a photo of someone.
