When we left the hop-on hop-off bus we first visited the Blue Mosque. The Blue Mosque was free so we walked through it even though Bill had been 15 years earlier!

There is a visitor's entrance and men and women enter a few feet apart so Bill and I were separated for a few minutes and I was given a piece of cloth to cover my head. We were also told to remove our shoes and given plastic bags to put them in. (There is another entrance for Muslims who are there to pray.) Outside along the wall are washing stations and those going in to pray have to wash their feet and faces and other exposed parts of their bodies before entering. Some even put water on their hair to wash it before praying. Bill took pictures of the washing stations which were all occupied by men at the time. Men and women pray separately – not sure if it is at the same time or not but if it is at the same time then it is different areas. In fact I don't know if they use the same washing stations but the station we saw was all men.
