This is so creative. There is only so much you can do with Mickey, and you found something new! Love your stitching and the misted b/g, nice touch. The square photos work well, too.
OMG... that song is stuck in my head now... LOVE this!!! Great, cute photos and love how you scrapped them! Cute story, love how you used your pennies! And did you know in earlier Mickey cartoons, Walt named Mickey's competition for Minnie Mortimer? He's the tall, skinny, swanky mouse in old cartoons. Love me some Disney history! :)
You did an awesome job! Gesso and misting and stitching - fantastic! I love all that you wrote underneath too - I think you should add exactly those words as secret journalling - on the back of the lo maybe? Its totally fabulous!
This is seriously fabulous! Your painting and misting behind the stitched title looks a-m-a-z-i-n-g!! Love the photos - my fave is the one of your dd barely able to see over the big Minnie and Mickey. My dd has that same Minnie :) Love the vellum pocket idea too!
Great way to show off the souvenirs. I like the handwritten? lyrics and the musical note pp. I was wondering how you hid enough of the pattern to really let the stitched title show. I think you did a great job with the gesso.
holy cow! you stitched the title?! WOW! It's fabulous! You have the most precious daughter and it's always so fun to see her facial expressions. Great job on this beautiful LO!
Love the stitching!! We started a pressed penny collection as well...for the same reason; although I have since seen some really cute bracelets made from them... :)
Who's the leader of the club thats made for you and me? M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E! Now is that song stuck in your head, or what? Sorry about that!
DH and I decided our souveniers from our trips to the parks were going to be pressed pennies (something I could scrapbook, du!) And DD got a small plush each time we went. So these are our goodies. I didn't realize I would want to put the pictures of her playing with her new lovies with the pictures I took while at the Magic Kingdom's Emporium, but it just worked. Its Mickey madness! He sure is a powerful little thing! My daughter loved him since she was a year old...shoot probably younger. I hope a small part of that love lasts forever. I am not a Disney fanatic, but there is a special place in my heart for Walt and all that he created. Speaking of Walt's creation....did you know that he wanted to name him Mortimer Mouse? It was Lillian (his wife) who said "that name is too serious. Shouldn't it be something fun?....like Mickey?" Wow, right?
I had oodles of fun making this LO. At first the pics were all wallet size and shape...tht about drove me crazy till I figured out SQUARES...du! haha. I then figured out that i wanted to stitch the letters and create the BG. I have never worked with guesso or ink mist before. I am not sure if I did it right or have the patience to learn. I do like how this one turned out. Hope you love it too.
