Journalling reads: When you look at these photos, you see a Mummy and a Daughter opening a present together, but without the words to tell you the story behind them, they are a little bit meaningless. You would never know that after losing weight, this was the first year Mummy was able to find silly Christmas nightwear that fit. You would never know that this is the first time mummy handed over the camera and didn’t make a fuss about all of the mess on her desk or being in the photograph, not because mummy had magically found a way to love her body, but because this was the first Christmas after losing Nan and somehow it made it more important to just be present and part of these memories, rather than worrying about looking fat, ugly or ill in a photograph. You would also never know that this present you were opening was a plastic teaset and you actually ended up with 3 of them because mummy bought you one from your brothers, Nanny Donna bought you one and somehow both of us forgot that you had gotten the exact same one for your birthday in October.
