This page is about a little more than a fishing trip with my family. You see fishing was a pastime of my fathers. He loved fishing more than most anything. He passed down his love of fishing to my oldest son. My dad had a connection with my oldest that was really special. He was a very difficult child and had some very real challenges growing up. The journaling in the vellum pockets says - This is our story ... Years ago when Wesley decided to change the direction of his life he focused on fishing. His pastime gave him something to focus on. I haven't been fishing in years. My desire to stay home took backseat to roughing it a couple of days camping to share Wesley's love of fishing. I'm so glad I did because I had the best time. Alan had to teach me how to cast an open face reel. After a few lessons and casts in the grass I was ready for the creek. The first cast went well but no fish. The second cast landed this big trout. Can you say Wow! Look what I caught. I was giddy with excitement. My third cast landed another fish. I know it must be beginners luck. I had the biggest fish of all. Well I had the biggest fish until Wesley walked up with his catch. He won but only by a small amount.
