Near Sabine Pass, Texas. This park is right on the coast and near the border of LA and TX. Sabine Pass is where Union battleships where repelled by Confederate forces under the leadership of Lt Richard "Dick" Dowling. So its a town and a battlefield at the point where the Gulf of Mexico meets the Sabine River. The park is an area where the marsh meets the surf! Those ducks out there are not ducks at all but are the American Coot, a small bird more closely related to the Sandhill Crane than ducks. These birds have dark grey or black plumage and sport a distinctive white bill and sloping head. They also have chicken-like legs.
