We walked back to the port building and found a tour in a very modern, comfortable mini-van and best of all, it was air conditioned so we jumped at it. The driver pulled off the side of the road and brought back yellow petals from a tree for each of us to smell. He called it Ling Lang and told us it was the fragrance base for Chanel #5 and it really did smell a lot like Chanel #5. Later he got out of the van and brought us a lemon leaf which he crushed for us to smell. Amazing fragrance!

He pulled over at one spot and showed us a beach area with trees between us and the water. On one of the branches was a huge iguana. It never occurred to me that iguanas climb trees - now I will look up every time I walk under a big tree!

Next he took us to the Tortuqueria River where we got in small boats for a canal tour. Our guide on the boat was excellent – he showed us howler monkeys, 2 kinds of sloths, many species of birds and even got us close so we could get good photos of several Jesus Christ lizards. They are called Jesus Christ lizards because they run or skitter across the top of the water or they "walk on water".
