How cool. I didn't know Sri Lanka had pelicans and spectacled to boot! I am agreeing with you about the whole snake charmer thing. It seems the cobra must be a big draw for the tourist. It isn't my cup of tea either. You did make the place look beautiful in your LOs though.

He look confused, but fortunately he left our van and walked directly across the street where there was a group of 5 men and some women sitting on the ground. I noticed that next to each of the men was a cobra basket with stones on the lids.

I think it was at this moment that I decided that I had had enough Sri Lanka!
