First the photo is wonderful of the gifted service men we have. I agree with you whole heartedly. Unless war hasn't touched your life some way, others know of it, but not the ramifications of a soldier that comes home, and sadly for those who don't. We are a 3 generation family of entering a war. Army, Navy and Air Force. My son spent 8 years overseas in the USAF, he still is not the same and does not work. Many think the AF isn't in harms way but little do they know what it is like in battle. I thank you for the wonderful reminder to all, honor the past, present and future of all soliders
What a great picture! Thank you for sharing it and the story. I can sure appreciate the sign to the VA hospital entrance. Not enough people in this country recognize where their freedoms come from.
Amen Marylou, my father instilled love of country and patriotism in myself and my brothers at a very young age. I'm forever grateful to him for that and the price of our freedom is never forgotten. Thank you to your grandson for his service <3
Beautiful photo and your words are so meaningful and spot on! Now, you'll have to scrap this photo and use your words above for the journaling!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
My grandson is a member of the National Guard-Engineering Unit-stationed out of Montrose CO. This is a picture of his unit. During their annual two weeks of training the county asked if they would help repair the road up to one of our popular lakes in the mountains. They encountered lots of rain during those two weeks, but they got the job done! Even though they weren't on the front lines fighting, they were here to protect & serve.
Tomorrow we celebrate the 4th of July & all that it stands for. Please take the time to thank a veteran, a soldier, police officer, sheriff's deputy as they protect & serve our country.
My husband was a disabled Vietnam vet who loved his country enough to almost die for it. There is a sign at the entrance of the VA hospital in Denver CO that reads, "THE PRICE OF FREEDOM IS VISIBLE HERE." Please remember that "some gave all and all gave some". For the one's that didn't come home & the one's that did, we honor you! Happy 4th of July! Blessings~Marylou
