Since we had an all-day pass we got on the tube stopping at King's Cross and walked across the street to the train station. As the woman said, platform 9 ¾ was well marked. Even if it hadn't been – we couldn't have missed it. Under the sign was a trolley (cart) that had some suitcases stacked on it – and on top of the suitcases was a birdcage with a stuffed owl in it. Part of the trolley was embedded in the wall so it appeared that the trolley was going through the wall.
There was a long line of people waiting to get to the display where they would be posed to look like they were pushing the cart through the wall. There was also a photographer taking everyone's photo. I hesitated to get in line, as I could tell it would take at least 30 minutes to work my way to the front of the line but Bill told me to go ahead and do it.
The photographer's photo was okay so we bought it. When we got back to the hotel that night I checked Bill's photos I found that he had gotten several pictures that I think turned out better than the photographer's photo!
The photo on the left is the King's Cross train station. The right photo is the marked spot for platform 9 3/4. So many people were coming to have pictures made between platforms 9 and 10 that it was interfering with train operations. This spot was created and marked several feet away so crowds wouldn't disturb people trying to catch the trains on platforms 9 and 10.
NOTE NOT IN JOURNALING: I had the brick wall paper with the 9 3/4 circles all over it and the Hogwart's Express diecut - was so glad to finally be able to use them!
