Journaling: Tuesday October 21, 2014 We headed back home today. We drove 465 miles to Tallahassee and stayed at the Conference Center Holiday Inn. It was a long drive and when we checked in we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a suite. It was just wonderful! The suite was quite large with 2 rooms – an outer living room with table, 4 chairs, couch, recliner, TV, desk, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and bar sink, and a bedroom with a King bed and TV. Two thermostats too! The bathroom was large with double wash basins and a big walk-in shower. We were so tired that we ordered room service rather than go down to the restaurant. In the morning we had breakfast in the room.
Wednesday, October 22, 2014 Back on the road, we could have made it all the way home but had made a reservation in Taveras (near Mount Dora) to visit a friend. He was called out of town and the fees to cancel were all non-refundable for the room so we decided to stop. The drive was only 230 miles and we arrived in mid-afternoon. We were upgraded to a Junior suite- not as nice as the one the night before but it did have a jetted tub that we took advantage of that night.
Since we had time, we decided to explore Mount Dora. It is quite quaint with lots of little shops. It actually reminds me a bit of Truckee, CA. Later we drove around the lake and stopped at a park– Elizabeth Evans Park. There was no one else there which made it very peaceful and tranquil.
